Create a Repository

Now we are familiar with the files that make up the template it's time to start your own repository.

If you still have your chosen template tab open then:

Look along the buttons above the file list and click the green Use this template button, then from the drop down list click on the Create a new repository option.

Please Note - If you are not currently signed into your GitHub account the green button will not offer the option "Use this template", you must sign in to proceed.

If you do not have your chosen template open in a separate tab choose one of the links below:

Please Note - If you are not currently signed into your GitHub account you will see a 404 page asking you to sign in, doing so will then take you to the correct place to continue.

This will take you to "Create a new repository from ...." page.

Here you need to name your new repository e.g myfirstwebsite and if ok a green tick will appear on the right side of the box. Please Note - this must be a unique repository name to your username or you will see a red warning sign appear.

Next make sure you have selected the Public option below. You can also add a brief description of your repository though this is optional.

Once you have done these steps you can click the green Create repository from template button at the bottom of the page.

You now have a new repository with our template files all ready to start making into your own unique website page.
