Jasmine Website Starter Tutorial
Aim
To build a website in the browser and host it on GitHub for free.
Along the way you will get a gentle introduction to HTML, CSS, images and start to work with a GitHub repository to manage your files and then learn how to configure web hosting.
Requirements
A web browser & a GitHub account, but no experience necessary.
(Note: You will need an internet connection whilst working with GitHub.)
Following along with the tutorial whilst working in GitHub will require you to be using two browser tabs at the same time. This can be made easier by using the Edge browser Split screen function. We've written how to enable it here Split Screen Browser Tabs in our reference docs.
How
You will use our Website starter template on GitHub.
Learn how to make changes to the template within the HTML to make the website all your own content.
We Will
- Show you two online editor options from GitHub.
- Explain how to save your work to GitHub along the way.
- Explain how to host and publish your new website to the web.
- Then show you how to edit your content using Issues and Branches.
